Author of ESL book seeking teachers

Hi, I'm a former ESL teacher in the U.S. I'm looking for teachers of adult-level or high-school-level ESL students to test a chapter of my reading textbook.

Each chapter contains a 200-500 word story about a person who was the victim of a scam or fraud. (Immigrants are often the targets of scams.) There are two pages of exercises for your students, and a one-page questionnaire for you. I'll send you enough copies for your students.

No pay, but I can send you a copy of the book when it is published. Please reply if you are interested or want more information.[/b]

Practical topic for English language learners

Post by Eric18 » Mon Jun 09, 2008 8:38 pm

Your book and chapter topic sound very interesting. You've focused on a practical problem facing many English language learners.

When I taught adult ESL students, I often had them read articles on scams and create list of "top ten scams" and "ways to avoid being ripped off" in groups. The discussions were always lively and informative.

Unfortunately, I can't help you field test the book. But good luck!

I have a higher level class beginning in August (not higher level university type, but higher level adult education type). I was going to do something in Internet scams and phishing, and was looking for more material, if you still need testers and if August isn't too far away.

G'day, I run a website in Australia (www.ausesl.com). We teach English to adults. In return for the book, I would be happy to make a banner and help you sell the book on our main page. We are currently getting quite a lot of hits on our site and it will only get better in the future. If that is something which you might be interested in, let me know. Cheers.

Jon.
