Hello Teachers.

In a nut shell...
I am finding it hard to find teaching work in my country (Australia). I have decided to combine my love of travel and take an adventure next year (March). Yep, you guessed it, teach and travel.

I have a B.A. and Diploma of Education (English and Drama) and also M.A. My funds are really really low and so I am looking for a well paid job (ie not just to subsist). I do not have a formal TESOL or any other ESL qualification, but have some teaching experience.

My aim is to work then travel- a big pull is to visit South America. I just need a little nest egg to start out with, if you know what I mean.

I do have sensitivities and do not wish to work in an urban area with heavy pollution. Also, a place that may be safe for a single woman (just over forty!). I have noted there are quite a few positions in Saudi Arabia...but I am not so sure about acclimating to the social mores there.

So this is my sitch.

I know you posted this a while ago, but thought I would give you my two cents.

You can make quite a decent living teaching English in either South Korea or Hong Kong, but you must be prepared to put in at least a year before the money will become good.

Most places want teachers with teaching experience, so if you can and taught for a school or private tutorial center, then you could eventually start building a name for yourself.

and how about someone like me?

-I'm not a native speaker, from Turkey but with a good English speaking skill.
-have Tesol, CELTA or TEFL certificates (I'll be signing up very soon)
-don't have a university degree yet (I'll finish computer science next year) but just wondering how would it be without a university degree?
-doesn't mind getting lower salary, I'll have a small income(600-700$~) per month for support and keep me alive.

but i want to teach, this is what i want. it's not all about the money. just a small extra income would be enough for me.
