Hi,
If an wanted to become trained to work in a day care or nursery school in the UAE what kind of training would he or she need? Are there any colleges or universities that offer this?

Hello,
I don't know if the UAE has special and specific requirements; in general a kindergarten teacher has a specific training.
The teacher must understand how preschool kids learn - theyu learn differently, in fact they learn how to learn before they enrol at primary schools.
I found this out while teaching English in a Chinese kindergarten. Unfortunately, parents here often think kindergartens are just an early stage of school per se, thus affording their kid a head start on the education front. How mistaken they are!
If you don't have relevant qualifications you might benefit from getting in touch with the Montessori school of thought. They have various national chapters and training centres.
In Asian countries kindi teachers are often recruited from among regular teachers, with an unholy overemphasis on academic certification!
In Europe, kindergarten teachers are not treated as teachers at regular schools are - unjustly so, I would say.
Do a google search on Montessori.
