Why do you need an
original way?

Is there something special about your students that makes ordinary ways to introduct the concepts of past forms of verb tense unworkable?
How much do they know about verbs now? Are they familiar with other verb forms? Which ones? What do they know about them?

As a TEACHER, you ought to know how to SOLICIT advice on behalf of your students; in your case, vital background information is missing in your query.
Teaching the PAST TENSE to other tongue English students is a different kettle from teaching the same subject to EFL students. Also, age and grammar topics covered previously might be helpful details.
By way of example: do you think your students can identify some of the defining differences between s?
If so, why not simply compare a text that uses past tenses versus another text written in present tenses?
