Well, I've done it! I have my TEFOL certificate, and my L:iteracy Volunteers of America certificate and I also hold a BA in Psychology (w/o a teacher certificate) from a few years back, and now I don't know where to get my first job. I need to work here in the States before trying to work abroad because (1) I have no money to travel, and (2) I don't know any foreign languages other than a smattering of French.
Can anyone give me any sound advice as to how to proceed?

You might actually find it easier to find work abroad than here in the States, Reva. Check out the job listings on this website. There are many of them. If you are a native speaker, you'll find it easy to get a job almost anywhere in Asia. Maybe in Europe too, but I don't have experience there, and wouldn't know first hand. But if you can get yourself to almost any large Asian city (except, perhaps, Hong Kong or Singapore, where English is widely spoken) you'll have a job in less than a week. If you're willing to work with children, you'll have a job in two days. If you're blonde, you'll probably get an offer from the first school you visit. You won't need the local language. Most schools will want you to use English exclusively.

Then you can start to learn to be a teacher. Despite your certificate, reality will be your best teacher. Learn quickly. And good luck.
