Hi!
I'm an English teacher just starting my career. I just want to ask you your opinion about texts that are on coursebooks. Which is the best way to teach them?Reading and maybe translating them? And what activities do students usually have to do as far as texts are concerned?

The following procedure teaches reading, listening, vocabulary, speaking, pronunciation, writing and grammar:
1. Let the students read aloud so that you can check their pronunciation.
2. Let the students read silently to study the text.
3. Ask students for new words they encountered. Then ask them to find out the meaning of the words and how they are used in the text. Then ask them to use the words in sentences.
4. Discuss the contents of the article.
5. Discuss reactions to the article.
6. Select a grammar lesson form the article. Teach this. Perform exercises.
7. Ask students to write something about the article using the grammar lesson.
