FASHION INDUSTRY ESL ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?

Post by hanoiharry » Fri May 26, 2006 11:25 am

I am a long term ESL teacher/Corporate trainer in Hanoi-Vietnam and have recently been given the job of preparing a course for lower and intermediate ESL learners who specialize in fashion studies.

Getting together a general English course for each is no problem, however, I would appreciate any help on ESP FASHION- If anyone is "clued up" about this niche market, please let me know of any specific texts that may be good supplementary material(not meant to be a pun).

I want to "stitch" this up well, as it "suits" me well.

See if you can lay your hands on books related to fashion, or go online and read up. Then study the language/ the jargon/ the register, and then train them up accordingly.

This isn't a full-on course, but I did do a few handouts when I had classess full of girls, one was on describing fashion.

You can find it at: http://www.jamesabela.co.uk/intermediate/index.htm
