textbook "Enterprise" and communicative approach

Post by kimberly » Sun Oct 08, 2006 10:27 am

I received a job offer which involves teaching a class of elementary students using "Enterprise", but I have found that this book has absolutely no scope for communicative activities. It consists mostly of dull, uninspiring texts and gap-filling exercises.

I worked with "Cutting Edge" and I found it much more conducive to communicative teaching. I wonder if anyone agrees that "Enterprise" is not very teacher-friendly and it doesn't make for lively classes.

If you have an experience of working with this textbook, please answer: is there any hope to teach a communicative class with this one? And how to adapt the activities?

I can't change the textbook and if I accept this job I'm bound to use it.
If I don't find how to get round this problem, I will have to turn down the job offer. Please help!
