Teaching the Basic of the Basics

Post by abauer » Sat Feb 02, 2008 3:54 am

I feel that I'm in need of serious help if I want to be effective. I teach a Vietnamese man who...has major pronounciation problems. Last lesson, I started out by drilling in the alphabet and the response phrase "I am fine." It seemed to have working well for a while but collapsed in the end. I also had him read Dr Suess' Hop on Pop, some words he could pronouce okay, but the majority still needs work. I need to a solid way to teach proper pronounciation. Anybody have any good ideas.
