Hi colleagues,

I've published a posting on my blog about student-centered learning, learning from self-interest and how this relates to teaching conversation lessons... would love to hear your opinions!

Helping Students Become Who They Already Are - in English!

Well said!

We have to help students become who they already are - in English. By focusing on students desires, needs, and concerns, we create a more effective, humane and interesting classroom.

Far too many adult education programs remain impersonal, bureaucratic, and test-driven. Teachers have to learn about their students, hold actual conversations with them one-on-one, and encourage authentic conversations.
