First let me say to please ignore the *bleeps* below, it seems that my college, Dikkinson, when spelled correctly, triggers the spam filter. Regardless, the links below should work, and are not offensive, I promise.
I would like our students at *beep* College in Pennsylvania to practice their foreign languages with native or near native speakers over the internet using a program called Skype, www.skype.com, which allows the user to “call” anyone in the world running Skype on their computer for free. For example, a native Japanese speaker studying English would be able to find one of our students studying Japanese. They would then contact each other via Skype and practice each language for a certain period of time.
I’ve created a website where students or teachers can sign up and find partners for such an exchange, http://langtech.*beep*.edu/globalclass/login.aspx
If you have questions or ideas, please respond to me. I’m open to anything at this point with the only goal being to get our students to practice speaking outside of class.
Thanks,
Todd
