I need to know what credentials I need to become an ESL teac

Hello, I am teaching here in NY state as a esl teachers aide, and I want to move to East TX and become an ESl teacher assistance. Does anyone know what requred steps I have to take to become one? Online or otherwise. Should I obtain any certain qualifications in NY that can be transferrable or is there programs to start from scratch here in TX? Any information will be helpful. Check with the Department of Education in the area you are targetting. They all list required minimums for different types of teachers, and they are all different. For example, it is possible to have only a BA in California, but you have to have a teaching certificate in Hawaii, but in Hawaii, there is an Emergency Hire clause where if you are working towards your TC, you can be hired.

In general, ESL certification alone is not enough for any public school. You have to have a TC.
