dealing with disruptive behaviour

Post by mikkerod » Fri Dec 09, 2005 4:12 pm

 Hi, everyone, my name is Miguel and I'm teaching English as a second language in Spain. Currently we are having a lot of trouble with violence within the school (bullying, and the like...). We are trying to find solutions for this problem in a workgroup. We would very much like to share experiences with other schools all over the world engaged in similar programmes. Please contact us at this address: [email protected].
We could work together in the long run to establish a permanent link. Thank you in advance for your co-operation. :o

Sounds very interesting. Are you a middle school by chance? The reason I ask is that I teach in a middle school.

Dear colleague, thanks for your reply. Yes, we teach middle and high school students, but middle school is where most trouble is to be found. Do you have this type of behaviour at yor school? I understand you're teaching in Mexico. How are things over there?

Hi!
My school began a program of "conflict resolution" in which a couple of students met every few weeks to discuss problems and brainstorm ways to handle conflicts. I would also highly recommend you read up on the subject of assertive discipline. Check out my new book, Brand New Teacher in which I talk about how to build a healthy community of learners and ways to deal with conflict. Good luck to you. Carol Keeney

We made a bullying law, and teachers seem to like it.
