Any nice ways to create an English speaking environment?

Hello everybody!

I teach in China and my school’s very strict about using English at school. The staff has to take turns to see if there are any employees who speak Chinese in a public space. The people who are caught will be punished, but I’m not sure how.

I don’t think this is a good way, having people spy on each other.
Do you know of any better ways to create an English speaking environment?

Thank you!

Quite honestly, I don't believe in English Speaking campaigns and there is no proof that they are effective at all. But each school has its own policies that we MIGHT be powerless to change. That method of spying on each other has worked for the Chinese for centuries (but I'm not saying it's the best way). I say, just follow their language policy. The western way of "changing" things, IMHO, won't fly well with them. Good luck with that new job of yours :)
