Resources for teaching and learning to read and spell Engl.

Post by Masha Bell » Tue Nov 24, 2009 7:31 am

Some of u may already be using my website www.englishspellingproblems.co.uk which has lists of words with regular spellings on the Learning to Read page and the tricky-to-read ones on the Sight Words page, with tricky-to-spell ones on other pages grouped by sound, such as ee, o-e, long oo.

I have recently also put all the common words which contain tricky letters in a 56-page booklet, listed in alphabetical order of spelling patterns, from a, -able/-ible and a-e/ ai to y and z/s. It’s title is ‘Rules and Exceptions of English Spelling’.

Sadly it has been priced a bit higher than I recommended:
£ 5.99 from bookshops or the publisher and £ 5.39 from amazon.co.uk where the Look Inside facility gives u a fairly good idea what the book is like.

The booklet lists the same words as the website, but is likely to be more appealing to some people. Masha Bell
