What's the missing word?
Hey all!
Fully installed in my new home, though without an internet connection, but have one at work, and today I'm here an hour before class, so thought I would jump in with a couple of silly "cloze" questions. They are simply sayings or rhymes that I don't remember totally and don't have anyone to ask about and doing a google search (which would probably give me the answer) is less fun than asking you folk. Sooooo, here goes....
"Two's company, three's a crowd, four bla bla bla bla is not allowed."
"Wee Willie Winkie ran through the town
Upstairs, downstairs, in his night gown
blaing at the windows
blaing at the doors
are your children safe in bed
for now it's after four!" (that one may need a total overhall!)
Anyway, just playing memory there ("she sat there softly singing/little nursery rhymes she'd memorized/in her daddy's easy chair" (Ballad of Lucy Jordan))
peace,
revel.

Replace the "bla"
Good morning.
Perhaps I wasn't clear. I'm looking for the words that are missing in the nursery rhyme, which I have indicated with "bla".
"Two's company, three's a crowd, four ___ ___ ___ ___ is not allowed."
"Wee Willie Winkie ran through the town
Upstairs, downstairs, in his night gown
_______ at the windows
______ at the doors
are your children safe in bed
for now it's after four!"
In other words, fill in the blanks!
peace,
revel.

Wee Willie Winkle
Wee Willie Winkle
Runs through the town,
Upstairs and downstairs
In his night gown.
Rapping at the windows,
Crying through the lock,
"Are all the children in their beds,
Now its eight o'clock."
And the most common version of the second one:
Two's company, three's a crowd, four's too many and five's not allowed.
You were correct to imply that the missing word was 'Google', though reading your post again one could make a case for it being 'gaga'.

Thanks all
Thanks all for your replies.
Though the Willie Winkie rhyme does indeed ring a bell, I'm not familiar with either of the "two's company" endings. Are there others out there (not to say that Stephen and coffee are wrong, just seems that as coffee points out, there must be other variations, based or not on how wide the city council made the sidewalks!
)?
