I stopped walking yesterday.
I=subject
stopped=verb
walking=gerund serving as d.o.
yesterday=adverb modifying stopped

As long as you don't mind a (possibly confusing) discussion starting due to your questions Donna - that is the point of the forum - please keep them coming. I would say there are no easy questions of this type really, no "dumb" questions, because different people view grammar in different ways.

stopped walking = process
yesterday = circumstance
