Private messages

Post by LarryLatham » Mon Sep 06, 2004 11:17 pm

I'm sorry to waste everybody's time here, but circumstances leave me no choice.

Some (but not all) of the private messages that I attempt to send are not being processed, and I cannot find any way by which I can influence the outcome. I have some messages in my outbox which have been there more than a year, along with some that are only several hours old. One of those is a message that I tried to send to Karl Dee a couple of months ago to complain about my private messages not being sent, but, of course, that one didn't get sent either, which is why I'm here out in public complaining about all this.

Hopefully either Karl or Dave Sperling will read this somehow, and be able to take some kind of corrective action. I am embarassed that sometimes people send me privates, and my responses to them do not get sent. It must seem to them that I do not care about what they said to me.

Again, sorry to be so public about this, but either I need an education on how to work the system, or something is wrong with the system. :(

If you go to your messages does it say you have room? I know on some message board I had to delete some of my messages so it wouldn't be too full. Can't remember which one though. ;)

Thanks for trying, Lorikeet.

My Inbox says it's 66% full. There's no indication in my Outbox as to whether its full or not.

Just to beat a dead horse....
My inbox is 86% full and my sentbox is 32% full (My Outbox is empty). Did you check both? (Not that it would matter, but who knows?)

Oh!

My Sentbox was 100% full. Perhaps that's why I couldn't get anything out. I deleted several messages, and now it says 48% full. Do you think now the messages in the outbox will be sent (without my having to do anything else)?

I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks, Lorikeet. :)

Don't worry!

Hey Larry, and everyone else!

Larry, don't worry about bringing this matter to the public attention, I for one, appreciate your having done so! Unlike most of my students, I did not grow up with web-pages, forums, etc...and am often lazy in looking at everything that is included in a page or web-site, sometimes there are little things hidden here or there, or maybe not so hidden, that we don't pick up on until we need them. Happens to me all the time. Now we know, thanks to lorikeet's explanation, a little bit more about how these things work.

peace,
revel.
