Metal, spare me the hypocrisy...
Tell me, Fluff, why didn't you post all that in an email to me instead of posting it here? What is it you hope to achieve? A ban on Metal?

I don't have that worry, but I was wondering just what Fluff was trying to achieve.

Of course I cannot effect a ban on you posting, metal (but you can soon see which of your threads are no-brainers or total lead balloons by the lack of replies/interest shown in them). All I'm saying here is that I hope you will acknowledge and actually change your "quote'n'quip" ways, and try to show people a little more respect - or do you really like being called, for example, a 'patronizing little twerp' so much that you'll carry on regardless?

As for me, maybe I'll lay off of moaning on about Japanese English teachers at quite such lengths (even though that has provided a window into that thing called, you know, 'classrooms', and what actually goes on inside some of them).

'Hmm'? Does that show you're giving what I've said some thought, or are still unconvinced of the merits of a decent discussion, or...?

I wondering why you need to hide your own disrespect for my posts.

'I wondering why you need to hide your own disrespect for my posts.'

Hmm indeed. Better than just saying 'Hmm', but still not quite beyond the 'You (=fluffyhamster) Tarzan, me (=metal56) grunty unintelligible monosyllabic ape-creature' level. Keep trying, you can do it etc.

A blast from the past, perhaps even more relevant now than it was then:

I refer you to the title of this thread:

But if you need to keep whinging, you could try doing it by using the private message function.

This thread wouldn't have been necessary in the first place if you'd exhibited more manners, so don't act so aggrieved and self-righteous. Hypocrite.

As for PMs, now it wouldn't kill you to send some (and I mean nice contrite ones) to me, SJ etc, would it.

Three questions:

Why on earth has a thread about this kind of thing turned into this kind of thing?

Whatever made anybody think that the complaints were more aimed at others and not at them as well?

Why can't you (whoever you are and not everyone else except you) give us all a break?

Sorry, metal, not quite finished with you yet. You don't get off that easy.

Oh, I'm not under any illusion that I haven't got on at least a few people's wicks over the years here on Dave's, JTT. The thing is though, I'm almost certain that that's probably more due to the length of some of my posts and/or their subject matter than anything I said to anyone.

But I've never been one to trot out ridiculous advice along the lines of 'If you don't like what you've read, um, er, well, you didn't have to read it'...although I really do think that some of the "replies" I've gotten have been very uncalled for. Which brings me to the naughty boy standing there awaiting a good b*tt-lashing, metal56.

Metal really did seem to get upset once over a joke I made* (I can tell you where exactly, if you want), and has never been the most polite forumite even with those people he seems to "like". I just have to assume he was missing Larry or Shuntang or whoever terribly or something.

Now, I'm prepared to brush all this under the carpet if that's what everyone feels would be best (show of hands, please), but don't blame me if you get tripped again by some big humps.

Anyway, at least it's being confined to just this thread now it seems (good job lol started it, eh), so if you really don't like "this sort of thing" then might I suggest that you don't actually need to keep stopping by here to stare, do you. 8)

*And been on at me ever since, barging in on quite a few threads for no reason other than to cause trouble and generally try to insult me - so I began popping up on his threads from time to time in retaliation. Sometimes, hell, I even added some worthwhile comments (see, for example, the "aborting fetus" thread).

If you keep on thinking that, keep on shadow projecting, we'll get nowhere.

Wow! Do you really keep a record of such incidents? What happened to water under the bridge? Maybe you should take break from posting for a few days and give yourself time to relax. Your posts here are only fanning the flames. Just a suggestion.

There's that "show of hands", "doesn't everyone agree with me" thing again. It really does seem as if you're on a "let's all take Metal to task and then I can rest easy" gameplay.

OK metal, before you spout any more platitudes at me, I have a suggestion. I'll let the rabid zombie sleeping dog lie (and lie in more than one sense), but if it "goes postal" and starts gumming away again at some poor "unsuspecting" poster, I really will need to try to put the horrid thing out of its misery for once and for all. Fair enough?

In the meantime, I guess I'll just need to try to find something for unimproving my memory (no need for me to keep records when I remember things pretty clearly, is there).
