All around (or over) the world

???"all" is omissible only in "all around the world" and not in "all over the world". So the latter is always used intact, whereas the former can be used without the "all" too.
scattered over the world
dispersed over the world
spread over the world
flows over the world
etc.
And how about this gem?
A stygian gloom had fallen over the world
I always imagined that they used all over to fit the rhythm, but maybe round would have had a different meaning. All over seems "stronger" somehow.Ah here we are and here we are and here we go
All aboard and we're hitting the road
Here we go, rockin' all over the world
Status Quo
n.b. the quote is for illustrative purposes only and I have never purchased a Quo album, ever!

Quo at Cardiff Castle, many years ago, is one of the best rock concerts I've ever seen. No shame.n.b. the quote is for illustrative purposes only and I have never purchased a Quo album, ever!
