I voted for the first option, because it seems that with an "m" sound you can go into a right old trance, at least as deeply as Homer Simpson thinking about food (people who genuinely meditate seem to say 'Ommmmm' rather than 'Mmmmmm', however, small point but important nontheless in these "academic" discussions I get myself into and love so! ).

Anyone who used a sustained 'Uhhhhhh' to support prolonged thought could end up altering their pitch disturbingly, much like an adolescent Justin Long in Galaxy Quest (I'm going to give up teaching and become a casting agent, I think).

Ah, there's also Finch watering the ficus in American Pie 2...strangely, he didn't use an 'Ommmmm' sound even though he was into Tantra and TM etc. :?

:D
