Hello,
Now I am a graduate student in a Chinese Teachers' University and I am teaching college English in another university as a part-time job. I am confronting a problem now. Students' level is relatively low, and they have little interest in English learning. Are there any suggestions on how to enhance their motivation in language learning and how to make the class more interactive?
Expecting replies.

Dear Michelle,
It is more difficult to teach adults than children, that is a fact ,and I think it can be very challanging to get your student intrest. I think you should Know why they are studying the language and what are their intrests in the language. I don't have enugh experience. However, I'm sure that you have the right ability to convience them to be involve with you. Don't worry too much.

If you look on this thread:
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/teacher/v ... ation+keep at about the 4th post down by Surrealia, she gives some advice from someone in your position. Also take a look at other posts in the Adult Education forum. You will find lots of ideas there. Bluesky is right, you will be okay. It can be done!

hello,
I just forgot to mention that what I'm teaching is a big class with about one hundred students and the class equipment is not so complete--without a computer. A little bit hard.

I have read through the ideas posted on
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/teacher/v ... ation+keep .
Thank you Joshua. Condition seems different from that class. But I can get some ideas.
Any other good suggestions?

Hi dear
I'm brazilian, I'm finishing the university and I'm teaching english for children. I think that to teach adults is more easy than to teach children, but it's not impossible!!
Children need more care, attention, you must be patient, so, you can turn better classes with games, music songs, warm-ups, et al.
I know a site that is very interesting with crosswords, word exercises, grammar....
http://www.abcteach.com
I hope that you enjoy it!!
