Auden said of Yeats "mad Ireland hurt you into poetry". Is "hurt someone into something" used in your variant?

I've never heard that construction before in my life, and had no idea what this thread would be about from the title (AE). But once given a sentence, it's not that difficult to comprehend. Seems like it was used more for poetic reasons than a reflection of the author's everyday speech. I wouldn't assume that W.H. or members of his variant went around using this phrase on a regular basis.
