About culture teaching
Commnucations often break down due to cultural differences. We are not only teaching our students to be linguistically correct but also trying to have them behave appropriately. But how can we achieve the goal of culture teaching while both teachers and students are emmerging in the culture of their own country? How should they keep their own cultural identity?

You could examine one behaviour that the students do and tell them this is a social practice of their culture. Then you can examine the same behaviour of students in another situation and compare.
Each student might chose something different in the project method Clio mentions.
The student describes the behaviour - it could be cooking a dish, riding the bus to school, going swimming in the local swimming pool or taking a class in English.
They try to cover the headings of the Knowledge Structure developed by Bernard Mohan. Description, Sequence, Classification, Choice, Principles, and Evaluation.
They should Describe the activity as if someone from outer space was observing them for the first time. Then they should try to Sequence the experience - put in titles to separate the activities involved or the stages and see if they missed anything. Then they can Classify the experience - where does it fit into other actitivies like that - sports, recreation, education, etc. Then they can figure out what Principles they are operating on to do this activity - is this activity valued in their community, does it make then an outsider or insider, promote their education and so on. Next is what choices they made or could have made and finally how they felt about it or the Evaluation.
If you can then send these essays to another group who might do things differently, you will then understand difference in culture more clearly.
