Hi there,
I have two "small" questions for the community, if that's O.K. The first being: Which university in England has a reputable name when it comes to English MAs? I did a little search and two names popped up: Leicester and Aston, Birmingham. Are there others that I've missed?
My second question has to do with online vs. distance MAs. My colleagues told me that online courses are not recognised internationally and that it's generally better to go with a distance course. I've read that distance programmes require you to be in the country of that university for perhaps 3-4 weeks in a year. If I'm looking to stay in South Korea teaching whilst studying, then how is that going to be possible? Are there anyone who has tread a similar path to mine?
Thank you kindly for your advice/information.
regards,
MA in Applied Linguistics.

I hope someone with better experience answers but in the meantime, I remember that several universities used to hold courses in Japan so I bet they do the same in Korea these days. An English or Canadian professor would come and meet with the "class" in a central location for a couple of weeks and the rest would be distance courses. The University of British Columbia in BC, Canada has an online course that you can participate in by video phone which I think would be neat. I wonder if Australia does anything in that line.
