Improve your English with alcohol

Post by woodcutter » Mon Jun 15, 2009 6:32 am

How many times have you heard people say that after a beer or two their skill in a foreign language improves? The nerves disappear. In fact I once did an essay-based exam while slightly drunk because I had chronic earache and I got quite a good grade.

Therefore, why not tell people to drink a little before oral exams? It isn't very teacherish advice, of course, but wouldn't it be good advice?

When I was at uni doing Spanish, it was common practise to have a (small) drink before an oral exam.
