I'm ashamed to say that I only got 17/20, but then, I did rush through it a bit too fast. (Can't remember exactly which ones I got wrong, but if anyone really really wants to know, I can retake it!).

Me too, 17. Even though it's always the same old suspects.....

Which is why Chinese is such a horrible thing to learn to write. Every single word is a less than obvious "Hmmm, is it written that way?" experience.

(And thus I'm afraid my performance in my recent HSK cloze test section was also less than wonderful...........)

A few Chinese links (then) for you, Woody!
http://www.kanjiclinic.com/twostrokegame.htm (I thought of 19 of the 28 answers listed, but that was in only about 20 minutes, might've thought of a few more if I'd given myself a bit longer, and I'm sure that there are more than 28 possible Chinese hanzi-answers, as opposed to Japanese kanji ones perhaps - I mean, I had a few beyond my 19 tallying that weren't in the kanjiclinic list, but which certainly appear in Chinese dictionaries at least).

Aww Woody, I was hoping you'd tell us what you might've scored on the kanjiclinic game too. (This is AKA: a BUMP! :) )

Bah, I got 19 but I don't know which one was wrong. Had questions on a couple. Too lazy to go back and check.

19, eh, Lori? Not bad, not bad - but not quite good enough! (The Fluffy English Academy - FLEA - only accepts those who get perfect scores).

What's interesting is the mistakes they expect you to make: either unstressed vowels where you can't hear the vowel 'properly' or double consonants where again you can't hear the spelling. I did worse than everybody here so far.

Now, how many of you have developed solid strategies for preventing your students from knowing that you can't spell your way out of a paper bag?

My innate modesty and unwillingness to brag do not allow me to tell you my 'score'. Though "score" may be a clue!

Sorry, yoda, it's obviously not something I can help you with.

I can't do the Kanji clinic sort of quiz - I just cheat as soon as I'm stuck. I'm glad I did too because I didn't think "eye" was acceptable, for example.

Come on Juan, put us out of our misery. Reveal your grade.

As expected, and perhaps because I don't expect to do well, I got 11. I really thought I had it nailed. Guess I haven't overcome my learning disabilities at 67.

When I made a mistake that my students caught, I just said that I was testing them.

What would I do without spell check? Even then, I have to change words when spell check can't find them.

Misdirection...

Ouch, only 15.

Sad thing is, I'm still sure I spell (probably) all of them correctly when I use them without thinking too much... but as soon as I see all those distractors, I suddenly get confused.

:p

I got 18 right. Can't even blame it on me being a Yank and the test being British...I knew to watch out for -ise vs. -ize!

I agree with Heath. In-spite of my 11 I think I would spell most of them correctly. Though probably not!
