dear friends, i have got a marking scale for composition correction (guidelines) and my problem is How can I consider the length of a composition whether it is too short or too long than the determined length (for ex: 200 words essay) My marking scale is for a 200 words essay but what can I do if it is sohrter or longer than the assumed length? please help. or tell me where I can find a ready made marking scale for this problem.

Speaking from personal experience, I'd give full points for length if the essay is within +/- 10 words. For any number of words more or less than that, I'd take away points depending on the task.
Is this some sort of ESL/ EFL exam preparation?
