Help! ESL proficiency test - international school

Post by sburns » Sat Jan 28, 2006 10:19 am

Can anyone help? I am looking for a reliable test for assessing the English language proficiency of students coming into the secondary section of an international IB school. We want to assess their ability to cope in mainstream English-medium education.

We are currently using a 1994 version of SLEP, which is not a good measure. The Woodcock Language Proficiency Battery seems a possibility. Does anyone have experience of it in practice? Are there any others you would recommend?

Thanks.
Sally
