What's Expected - And How to Assess ???

Hi, Kind of goes with an earlier post in activities...
This is my first time going to China to teach ESL... first time teaching English. I'm a writer.
The school knows this is my first, and honestly, my ESL training (online)... well.... I tutor online to Chinese friends, but again, it's mostly just written correction using Chat or letters.
----Here's the thing.
I'm going to teach 60 students per class. I'm told, at the High School, it's Senior 1, Junior 2 and Junior 3.... I've yet to find out if this is GRADE or English Level...
----I'm wondering....How can I sufficiently Assess 60 students per class? I don't want to be a vacationer.... I'm looking to make a good career of this.
Also....what is really expected of me as an Oral English teacher to these groups? I was just told Oral English Competance.... then why have different groups.
----I know there are written tests for General Written English/grammer competancy etc... ... am I just over thinking, or assuming that Oral English is so much separated from written assignments etc??? Kinda figured the Whole Language Approach would be needed even so "simple" Oral Ability. Yes?
Thoughts?
Kindly,
James
