Placement and Assesment

Post by scriby » Fri Apr 20, 2007 4:44 am

We are looking for a good system or package we can use to place our students and assess to our students. Is there a package we can buy or download which is similar to a standardized test?

We have 9 levels in our ESL program, and have found that our assessment test don't really work as well as they should.

Right now we are in a hurry to find a better package, even one "off the shelf."

Thanks for any idea.

It is unlikely that you will find something off the shelf that will place students according to already created levels. How will you know that a level one according one measure is not the same as a level three according to yours?

What are your levels based on? If you have particular objectives or types of language you expect students at different levels to learn, then you would be much better off creating a test of your own that reflects those onjectives for accurate placement.
