'service' as a verb

Post by Itasan » Tue Nov 20, 2007 11:33 pm

"Consumers will find it difficult to service their heavy load of debt.'
Does this 'service' mean:
1. pay back?
2. pay the interests of the debt?
3. any other?

Thank you.

I understand it to mean the repayment of both the principal and interest.
