I often get asked if I can teach general English with just a bit of business thrown in. I'd like to know if there are any textbooks out there designed for this market (which I can assure you is huge.)
I could imagine for instance a book based around a group of people including perhaps a family, so that you can talk about what they do in their general life and in their jobs. That way the grammar could be presented in a general English context (which would make it easier to understand.) This could then be followed by practice in a general then business context.
Anyone know if any such book exists?

Use a general English book and then just adapt it.
When the book does introductions, do it for people meeting at a conference, adding the bit about who you work for and what you do.
When there is giving directions, make them give directions from the airport to their office.
When it's past simple, make them talk about what they did at work yesterday.
Much easier than trying to find a book with just a "bit" of business English.
