Here is a role-play for teaching telephone English in a business setting. Clients call a company but the boss is out. So client's have to leave a message with the secretary.

I would just like to say how successful the telephone role play activity was with my five business students. I taped the activity and asked each student how they feel the tel. conversation could be improved. When it was played back we shared our thoughts and suggestions. My lessons last two hours and this activity could easily be stretched to three.

We mangaed to include reported speech into this activity and also concentrated on pronunciation. My students enjoyed and felt this was a useful lesson.

I find it very useful to get feedback from others regarding resources they have used.
