Hi there!

"We used to climb a mango tree that was / there was in his house"

Which of the two options id correct? Could you explain why?

Thanks a lot!

Mara.

He had (grown) a mango tree in his HOUSE?! :o

:D

You don't really need the relative clause there: the preposition is descriptive enough ('We used to climb a mango tree in his garden').

Hmm, that just made me have a thought though, 'a mango tree', not 'the tree' or 'it' i.e. I can imagine an alternative running something like this: 'This guy had a mango tree in his garden, and we used to climb it.' Just a thought!
