'In olden Japan, a dignified lady-in-waiting
who had her own private chamber or office at
court or in the shogun's castle.'
It is now often referred to an office lady
who has been working there for a long time
and knows very much about the office, thus
has some kind of authority, feared by younger
women (and men) workers in many cases.
Is there such a short word in English?
Thank you.
