Hi All,

I teach English for an international shoe company that has factories in several countries. I thought as a nice gesture, I would add a weekly English lesson (without mandatory homework). Since it's only once a week, it needs to be easy and effective.

I was thinking:

Part 1: 2 idioms related to a theme with similar grammar.

Part 2: 5 grammar exercises related to each idiom

Let me know your thoughts please.

Thanks in advance.

Fun, fun and fun!

I think if you are planning an add-on class, its a good idea to do something fun that will be interesting and useful. I don't know your precise situation, but I've got a few examples of lessons and handouts that business students have enjoyed.

A nice self-contained lesson is on sound-scripting:

I have a little lesson on common mistakes made by PowerPoint presenters, a guide to some speechwriting tricks and a guide to body-language it can be found at: http://www.jamesabela.co.uk/bus/PPTresources.html

I also have a nice lesson on dress-codes, which could be easily adapted for shoes: http://www.jamesabela.co.uk/genmaterials/Dresscodes.pdf

And if you download, you'll find some interesting notes on making requests, http://www.jamesabela.co.uk/bus/21stcenturywriting.pdf

Anyway, I hope some of these inspire you to do something creative.

James
