Hello there,
I've been asked to put a web guide together for elt teachers to use with their students. The aim is to encourage learner independence. I wonder if any of you could give me some tips about good sites i can add to the list. Thanks very much.

There's a lot of resources for Business English students to get their teeth into. I'd suggest the following ideas for independent learning:

Get them to improve their PowerPoints using the material here:

Depending on the level of the students, I wouldn't let them just visit there. I'd give them specific exercises such as:

Week 1 Speech Writing
Week 2 Complaint Response
Week 3 - Presentation 1
Week 4 Sales Emails
Week 5 Press Release
Week 6 Webpages
Week 7 Writing Proposals
Week 8 Report presentation

So here's mine:

I'm looking for opinions, ideas and suggestions for on-line applications for learners of English as a foreign language. I've created a couple of dictation exercises to give you some idea of what it's all about.

These applications follow web standards for on-line learning, notably keeping the content and presentation separate so it's easy to create new exercises without any specialist computer programming knowledge.
