Ph.D. inquiry

Post by Zohar » Wed May 19, 2004 5:03 pm

Dear List-ers,
I've been a teacher of English using CALL extensively for about ten years.
Now I'd like to study for a Ph.D. in CALL, preferably in the UK, and although I searched the Web as well as I could, I am still uncertain about which institution has the best expertise and experience in CALL research in the UK.
I'd greatly appreciate your help in recommending such an institute.
Thank you,
Zohar Silvan

Dear Zohar,

I'm an MA student at Warwick University which is ranked fifth best university in the UK. They have a department called Centre for English Language Teacher Education (CELTE) where they offer MAs and PH.Ds. One of the choices is ELT and Multimedia where extensive work is done in multimedia and CALL. I do not know if its the best in the Uk, but it's a very good university. You can search the site of the university and read about the programmes offered by CELTE. Here is the URL for the centre. I hope this would help. http://www.warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/CELTE/

GOOD LUCK

Here's another option for you...
I'm studying for an MA ELT at the University of Essex. We have a very well regarded Language and Linguistics department. CALL is certainly an area of study that the department is interested in.
Check out....

I've been looking at possible Phds as well. My CALL lecturer studied for his Phd at Canterbury Christ Church University. They could be worth a look as well.
Try...

I hope this helps.
Good luck
