Critique my online class
Hi everyone. I'm working on some online classes so students between F2F classes can maintain their English. Here is my latest effort: http://www.eslgo.com/classes/raiders.html
I don't supply the video (Hollywood would be mad if I did), but students who rent it or buy it should get a nice free online course. At least I hope so. If I can improve it let me know!

i should say that the drag & drop to pictures thing didn't happen on my browser (mozilla 1.3)
do you have any other types of activities planned for students?

just saw crazy vocab quiz .. this is poorly designed in my opinion as there are too many words lumped at the top and unlike on paper, the student can't 'cross them out' when done. maybe breaking it in to seperate quizzes for different scenes or parts of the movie would allow you to cut the numbers down and provide a more lively task that allowed the student to focus on completing the language exercise, rather than constantly trying to remember & recheck which words' they've already used!

I'm trying to tweak the code on that drag and drop thing. Hitting refresh will realign the pictures.
I've been thinking about the quizzes a lot. The classes and the forums are the learning parts. The quizzes are ofr students who want to grade themselves. So if one student does badly on the crazy people vocab test, they might decide to look up some of those words and watch the movie to see them used in context.
In some ways I think it distracts from the goals of my site which are basically to communicate on the forums.
The quiz does require a lot of scrolling and perhaps I'll break it into pieces. First I ahve to decide if I'm going to keep the quizzes. I guess I ahve to. I like the past simple quizzes which use the garden path strategy to help students remember irregular verbs. I think they'll be helpful...

the garden path
the garden path is just a theory that says (for example) rather than making a big list of irregular verbs and telling students to memorize it, it's better to let them make mistakes. When those mistakes are corrected students will remember the irregulars better than if they try to memorize a big list.

I'm not sure where you'd like to see a reset button. All of the javascript quiz parts have a way to start over...
I understand that you think the past - present passive exercise is too simple, but I don't know how to use multiple choice to add to the difficulty. Could you explain what type of MC quiz you had in mind?
