Learning With Fun
Does somebody know an old CALL program called LWF (Learning With Fun) I'd like to get it back.
Hi Pandora
How old are your computers? If the program is older than say 1995 and runs on MS-DOS (not Windows) it won't work on XP.
I made the mistake of updating an entire raft of computers on our study centre to XP and spent the next 72 hours enduring the wrath of staff because none of the old CALL programs worked!!
My point being, if these programs start to become popular among users, you're sentenced to Windows 98 for life. What's this program like? perhaps there's a more future-proof alternative.
Cheers, Al

I'm not the tech crew at our school, but I know we upgraded to XP and there is still a very old program called "Rhubarb" we use that is so old you can't even use a mouse with it. It only works with a keyboard, and in DOS. There must be some way to link to the underlying DOS in windows. Have you tried asking your tech people? Or are you it? <grin>
Well, I am the bloke who asks them all the uncomfortable questions...There must be some way to link to the underlying DOS in windows. Have you tried asking your tech people? Or are you it?
It depends on the program, according to your example. Either way, in XP there isn't an underlying DOS layer in quite the same sense as there was in pre-XP distributions. One upshot of that is the at least upredictable results when you run DOS stuff on XP.
What did this program look like and work like? If you wanted an update in macromedia flash using a database or XML, I might be able to help...
Al
