has cyberlinguistics come into being?

Hi, i am writing a paper about comparison between chinese and English netspeak( cyberspeak, e-language , internet language,or cyberlinguistics). so i am eager to know how netspeak devolep in the english-speaking country. how can we define a netspeak? how about its nature,classification ? can cyberlinguisitcs become a new branch of linguisitics ,like pragmatics, socialinguistics? can somebody give me some suggetions. thanx.:)

Cyberlinguistics is not like sociolinguistics. It's another style of communication. When I'm with my old college friends I speak one way, when I'm with my colleagues I speak another way, and when I'm on the net I speak another way. ttyl

can someone tell of me any good article or web-source from where i can get a detailed and in-depth information about cyberlinguistics, net-english and net-speak.

secondly, is there somewhere i can get the topics or abstracts of theses/dissertations related to chat room language? or chat room discourse?
