I am currently writing an article about the Pros and Cons (Strengths and weaknesses) of online learning. Especially focusing on ESL learning.
What good free websites are out there?
What does it take to be able to self-learn a language?
What does online learning give someone that they can't get in a classroom setting and vice versa?

Any thoughts on these or other online learning concerns & benefits would be MUCH appreciated. =P

Thanks! I will check them out.

My article will be written for the native Chinese audience to let them know that there's some good free websites out there. And to point out some pros and cons of online learning.

For example, I know that many Chinese people like using the internet because it provides anonymity. They can ask questions that they would otherwise be too shy or embarrased to ask. There's no threat of "losing face" when you are in front of a computer - your marks and progress are your own and your questions are being answered by someone who doesn't know you personally.

Personally I am trying to get my students to use the internet as a way of broadening thier opportunity to use English outside of the classroom.

I recently wrote a paper for my MA program advocating the use of WebQuests and will probably develop one for my website when I get some more free time.

I think that in an EFL enviroment, such as Chine or Korea (where I am) the Internet is a powerful tool that students need to be made aware of and of how to use it effectively.

Hi!

I would say that online learning is an excellent additional tool to learning English at school/university.

That is why we made our (free) site.

I think some people are not aware how much one can benefit from the internet!

Best wishes
