Elementary School Jobs in Korea?
I teach full time at an elementary school in Taiwan, but only grade 1 and 2. Is it possible to just teach these grades in Korea? What is the most common elementary school teaching situation in terms of hours and grades?

I have some input for you...
I am currently in South Korea and an ESL teacher in an Elementary School. It is possible to teach only 1st or 2nd grade (depending on what you were hired for). For example, there are 3 foreign English teachers in the school (me, my wife, and our friend Charles). My wife and I teach English classes to all grades (1-6). We have our own classrooms. The students come to us for 40 minute sessions. Charles teaches an immersion class (along with a Korean Teacher). He has only 1st grade students. The teaching schedule is set up like a University; you teach 40 minute classes throughout the week (no weekends). Fridays are cut short so that students and teachers can go home and relax. I have been here since August and am in complete Heaven where I am at. The parents, kids, and other teachers are nothing less than wonderful. Any other questions, feel free to contact me.

Really? But they don't usually even learn English for the first few grades, right? Is it a special school? Do you know of many people doing the same job?
These students are really bright. Most of them come in knowing what I call, "Survival School English" (Teacher, Bathroom, Eraser, Pencil, Yes, No, Hello, Goodmorning, etc.). These kids have to learn sooner or later, why not start out at the Elementary school level. Their cognitive abilities to learn languages are peaked during the ages of 1 and 3 and slowly deminish to virtually nothing around the ages of 7 and 8 (Piaget). The students are quick little learners (when they want to be
). This school is the only private school in the province. However, There are public schools around here that do have other foreign teachers in them. I can't say I know of many people doing the same job (as I don't know many ESL teachers). Unfortunately the answer would have to be no.
