Please recomend a Certif. Course-- online or class??

Post by IreneM » Wed Nov 16, 2005 7:45 pm

Hi everyone (sorry if Im posting this in the wrong category)

I have a BA in elementary edu, have plenty of experience with kids and currently the director of a childrens center... Im wondering if anyone could recomend a certification program for me... Im working towards paying off school loans and running on a budget, plus since I have the experience, an online course (around $250) might be better for me (??).. or should I go ahead and sign up for the full classroom course?? if so which one??

any recomendations would be highly appreciated!!
thanks!!

I would recommend you not take a TEFL course since it is generally not required. The better jobs out there want a bachelors or higher. Lower-end language school jobs, that don't pay enough for someone on a tight budget (or any budget for that matter!), are generally the schools that recruit the most for TEFL certified people.

With your degree and experience, you should jump right in. I did! As a professional, you will want to look for work in K-12 institutions and universities.
