7 year olds seek Keypals

Post by StoryLady » Mon Jul 03, 2006 2:05 pm

I will be teaching first grade students one hour each week focusing on writing skills. I would like to gather messages from my students to forward to a teacher of students of similar age from another country so they can learn about other cultures while learning to write letters. We are located in rural Georgia, USA.

hi, here's an idea, you can contact peace corps' world wide schools program, which connects currently serving volunteers with educators in the states. they will set you up with TEFL students of similar age. if you definately want key pals not pen pals be sure to specify, since most volunteers work without internet access. but there are plenty of areas where volunteers serve that do have internet access. i'm a volunteer myself but work mostly with secondary classes.

here is their website: http://www.peacecorps.gov/wws/

i'm sure you will get a volunteer, they told me once that they always have more volunteers signing up than teachers in the states

good luck :)
