How to start English Teaching in Tibet?

Post by lynnling » Tue May 18, 2004 12:11 pm

I am a Chinese majored in English. This year, I　plan to teach English in Tibet as a volunteer from Sep.

However, till now, I got no idea of how to start English teaching. :( My friend who helped me in finding a position in Elementary School in Tibet told me that, most of the children found it difficult to learn English as a third language( since they have to learn Chinese first). That definitely adds difficulty to my teaching.

Is there anyone who has experience of English Teaching in Tibet? Could you give me some advice on that? or any suggestion on English Teaching totally from A,B,C

Thank you !!! :D

Wow, that's too much.

I'd suggest you even in middle school it can be a heavy burden for alot of students. But if it must be tought, I'd advise not before middle school and even then only as an elective subject. And if that's not an alternative, then GOOD LUCK!

Perhaps you can try a teachers' tool i have created. it helps you to create instant tutorials and questionnaire using older or new machines.

Get hold of a computer pentium 1 or above
You can download the English dictionary too. see www.visualgram.com
