Should I make it easier for them?

I live in Taiwan and I am teaching 2 kids English. The thing is, they always want me to provide the meaning of some words or lines in Chinese. But when it comes to some gaps that exsist in English and Chinese culture I have no idea if I should try to use something already exsists in my culture, or should I really explain the culture background. What do you suggest?
