...and in a public library setting so I can't use most of the multi-media stuff. :( I love working with computers, videos, and songs.
What material can you suggest to help this kid learn English? She is a beginner and has just moved into the country. Her parents speak advanced English but are not confident enough to teach her.
I am an adult ESL teacher so I am a little apprehensive about using my materials to teach her.
I am thinking of getting the Oxford Picture Dictionary for Kids.
Am I on the right track? Any other tips to get me started? Should I focus on vocab. and phonics first and then, work on the grammar? I am thinking of taking her on several field trips because I believe that most people learn a second language through association.
I'd appreciate any help.

THe picture dictionary is good. Maybe, if there is a small conference room you could use, you could watch "Between the Lions" or another PBS children's show.

I wish I could use a television/VCR but our local library doesn't have one for public use.
Thank you for your suggestion though.
I am enjoying working with a younger child. We will be going to a local store to work on vocabulary tomorrow and I am looking forward to it. :D
