hello

wonder if anyone can help. Im a cELTA qualified teacher with 2 years teaching exp adults and children. Im looking to get into kindergarten teaching with the view to getting a job in an international kindergarten abroad. Does anyone know what extra qualifications / accredited trainging that would be useful and ultimately make me more employable.

The country of your residence or where you want to teach would be a decisive factor in any answer.
With preschoolers, you have to bear in mind you are less of a TEACHER and more of a MC. You cannot teach English in a kindergarten to speakers of foreign languages as you do at primary school because these young learners are physically and intellectually underdeveloped. Thus it is an important part of a kindi teacher to help children learn motor control (coordinating their body functions). In so doing, they learn about themselves, and they can learn those functions in English just as well as in their first language, without translation.
I work in a kindergarten in China, having qualificications to teach university English majors. I had to learn my ropes almost from scratch, yet I had one advantage: I knew how much goes wrong in teaching English in Chinese primary and university classrooms - and I could avoid making these same mistakes.

Don't get put off just because members talk with a faith bordering on religious acceptance! They are not fanatics although they seem to be identifying themselves mainly by not adhering to mainstream teaching theologies!

If you have a CELTA qualification, you are entitled to enrol in a two week 'extension' called the CELTYL, which is fast becoming the only major decent worldwide qualification for teaching Young Learners.

I would think that your CELTA plus a CELTYL would make excellent credentials for working in an international kindergarten.
